either or leak or burning oil. my car has that problem but Im thinking I have a leak or im burning oil. fill it up now. Search for leaks, and after a tank of gas look to see if its burning oil. the dipstick cant really malfunction. It either touches the oil, or there isnt any oil.

Since you said that you had your cam shaft seals replaced you should check the spark plug valley for oil. If they removed the valve cover then it is possible that one of the O-rings for the spark plug tube is bad.

I've had a problem like this before,
A month back i changed my oil with mobil 1 10w30 I was driving from the beach when my oil light came on, I cut the car off, and pulled over, checked the dipstick and there was nothing on it.
Had to walk to the nearest gas station pick up what they had, castrol gtx 20w40
walked back and checked oil again ( after 30 minutes ) and it was still dry filled her up, went home parked with newspaper under her to see where she might be leaking from. cant find a single drop leaking from engine, and still nothing, at first i thought maybe valves, seals, but thats over 4 quarts going out. would have seen smoke from exhaust or smelt things before hand.

are you running regular oil or synthetic oil. If youre running regular oil and its burning oil youll see smoke coming out of the exhaust. Sythetics dont really smoke when they burn so its harder to tell if. From what i know the only way you burn oil is if the oil gets into the combustion chamber of the engine which is usually through cracked o rings. Leaks are usually valve cover gaskets and other seals around the engine, the most expensive being the rear main seal which requires dropping the transmission to replace. If your car is burning oil i can only think of 2 ways to check it. 1: put regular oil on one of your oil changes and see if it smokes. 2: start ripping into the engine until you see whats causing the oil to get into your combustion chamber. The 1st method seems cheaper and easier to do if you ask me. Check your rear main seal, valve cover gaskets and distributor for leaks first before doing anything major. I can tell you from experience that if the distributor leaks, you wont see it on the ground as it will go straight into your alternator. Valve covers can leak on the floor or if youre unlucky it can end up on the exhaust manifold and burn off. Rear main seal usually drip on the floor.
