To answer the OP's original question requires a little more clarification on his part. When you say "the most hp for the least amount of money", what do you mean?....are you looking for a general sweet spot between the two virtues in the 400 hp range, or are you you looking to make some serious power(600 to 800 hp or more!!!)? I think there is a threshold for all three motors where their internals need major modification($$$) to avoid catastrophe; this threshold is different for each one. If you're staying within those thresholds for any given motor, there is a potential value point there of 'most bank for a buck for THIS engine'. Comparing those value points, I believe the 2jz will come out on top as being the engine that will produce the highest output with the least amount of internal mods($$$) while retaining the most reliability....and of course, that would be happening with a turbo, not a supercharger.

I'm looking to make some serious power without spending too much around 500 is good for me while still making my sleeper. but just got a job that pays $10/hr so lets pretend that i can pay for any range for now
alright. reliability is important to me too. Looks like I'm going on the 2jz side!
