A/C Quit working today
My A/C quit working today. I hit the A/C button and it comes on for a second but then the little indicator light for the A/C starts flashing and the air feels like vent air. Any ideas on a quick fix or should i just take her to the dealership. It was 101 degrees here today and I REALLY REALLY need this problem fixed fast. Thanks.

The only cause I know of off-hand is the compressor is not turning at a rate indicated by the engine RPM and that would indicate an electromagnetic clutch or drive belt problem.
92 SC probably clutch.

Get out under the hood and see if the compressor is spinning when the button is pushed.... It could be that the compressor has locked up, or it could be that the clutch isn't engaging, or it could be that the tensioner is going bad, and when the extra load of the compressor is placed on the belt is starts slipping and flopping around.

A/C
When the A/C compressor should be turning, electromagnetic clutch engaged, an ECU monitors its rotational rate vs the engine speed and you failure indicator will come on if they don't "match".
Your're in FL, high A/C useage area and high miles so I wouldn't be surprised if the A/C compressor clutch is worn out, it happens. I don't know if the clutch can be replaced independent of the whole compressor or not, but I would susppect it could.
If the drive belt were slipping you would hear lots of accomplying noise and if it were broken other functions would also fail.

Well, I will be calling Lexus tomarrow about the problem. I was just lookin around under the hood, and the engine coolant level is as full. But when I took off the radiator cap, it was bone dry?!?! Shouldent it be filled with coolant? Just wndering....cuz my car has not been over heating at all. Is this normal?
