I'm new to this forum. I just bought a '99 SC400 with 47,000 miles on it, it's in excellent condition, looks like a new car. I took it to a lexus dealer to get it inspected, no doubt they know a lot more about the car than I do. They found nothing wrong with the car. They did recomend changing the timing belt and serpintnie belt becuse of the age of the car. I can see the serpintine belt, it is cracked and needs to be replaced.
I would like to know if the timing belt will go bad with age.

 

If you have the spare $$, sure go ahead and do it, but I don't think its going to really hurt anything if you go another 20-30K on that belt.

 

im 207,000 on my belt is getting reaady to go the teeth on the belt are getting smaller but in your case how bad is the belt pics
