New Guy With some questions.
Hi to those who take the time to read this. I ran a few searches before i decided to ask these questions to try and save some frustration.
Im the Proud new owner of a 1995 SC300 5spd with 84,431 miles. And i have about $5500 left over to work with on this car. Now to the point, i want to do an engine swap...plain and simple. And with the obvious 2jzgte being what most people want to do i also want to be different.
I have come across a 1jzgte Twin Turbo Complete with ECU, Harness(uncut), and all relays for about $3000. it has under 10,000 miles on it to date. As far as i know there wouldnt have to be anything done to this motor to make it fit?i know the Soarer 2.5GT-T came with the Single Turbo 1jz but i was wondering if there are any differences on the Twin Turbo model. Do you tihnk I can do this entire swap and be within my $5500 limit? I know i will need a Fuel pump, might as well do the clutch. What about motor mounts?!!?

Well i dont exactly live in a Big car scene. Nebraska isnt a magnet for much stuff. The only 2 shops i would deal with, Sublime Motorsports (Which doesnt do very good work) and HP Motorsports (Who wont touch my car). I have the tools and skills to do the swap i just want to make sure i know everything in advance so i can get it done swiftly.
I have a lot fo knowlege on cars but Toyota/Lexus are somewhat new to me. In the past days from the different things i have been reading it appears that it should fit without any work as far as the manifolds are concerned. Mostly exhaust and that i can do.
Still wondering about motor mounts though. From what i know the 1jzgte is just a destroked 2jzgte (86x72 instead of 86x86 for the 2jz) So the mounts should work?

Sweet ride, I believe you have the ideal SC300: black, 5-speed, 1995. I don't know much about the 1JZ-GTE, but if it's a Supra motor, the guys at www.supraforums.com may be of more help in regards to the swap. Your 2JZ-GE is an MKIV Supra NA motor. If you're doing most the work yourself, I think $5500 is plenty enough to complete the swap. Good luck, and welcome to Club Lexus.

The 1JZ-GTE is NOT a Supra Motor...the 2JZ-GTE (as everyone knows) and the 7M-GTEU (in the older ones) are...
The Soarers (SC) also used the 1G-GTEU (2 liter TT with 210PS@6200RPM) in the older models (JZZ20) which we didn't get here...
Anyways, the 1JZ-GTE is popular to tune in Japan. With a stick, you should be able to do a swap but I personally don't know of anyone who has done it. You might want to contact Toyomoto or Clint (SC300T? I can't remember his handle here), they will have more info about engine swaps.
Even in Los Angeles (one of the largest car enthusiats areas), a 1JZ-GTE swap is SUPER RARE...one of our members has a 1JZ-GTE equpped Soarer (imported directly from Japan as a complete car)...he might have some info too (can't remember his name...he's a vendor though)
Also, don't be so rude when people don't reply...it's NO ONE'S JOB to reply to you....

ok. 1. I NEVER said the 1jzgte was THE Supra motor, BUT it is in the same family of motors and shares a lot with the 2jzgte. The only exceptions being that of the 1jzgte is a non sequential turbo setup, runs a 72mm stroke instead of 86mm, a few differences in the cyl head. and other small things. Oh also you forgot the 6m and 5m motor for the Celica/Supra.
2. I know all about its popularity in japan. I also know its rare in the states mostly for the reason the 2jzgte is easier to get ahold of and is slightly larger in displacement. But the higher redline on the 1jz is another reason i like it.
3. I personally dont care if it is or is not anybodies job to respond to me. I do, however, expect some form of hospitality. Would you go into a party knowing not one person would pay any attention to you?! And its also an Inaliable right for me to be as rude or kind as you want me to. I can be a very nice and helpful person.

You people need to chill.... :P
The 1JZ-GTE twin turbo is the older model as fitted to 91-96 Soarers (SC's). The newer model 1JZ-GTE has a single turbo (97+) and is VVTi. The later one is the better buy. Installation of the 1JZ-GTE is probably the same with every other engine swap.
I recommend you get a front cut instead of just the engine only because you'll need a cooler and other ancillaries that engine only parts dont include. They all come with a japanese regulated factory 206kw at the fly but the newer VVTi ones have a wider power band/torque curve. You should be able to get around 200kw at the wheels with standard engine/turbo's with a couple of modifications.
The Soarer 1JZ-GTE uses the same engine mounts as a Supra 2JZ-GTE and a direct swap is easy. I'm not sure if the SC300 2JZ-GE uses the same mounts as the 2JZ-GTE. You can in fact run a 2JZ-GTE in parrallel (like the 1JZ-GTE) using a standard 1JZ-GTE ecu.

Well the only reason im going for the Twin Turbo model is mostly cost. i can pick it up complete for $3000. If anybody knows where i could pick up a newer single turbo front clip for about the same let me know

Why do u want to put a 1jzgte in a car that has a 1jzgte engine stock? Your best bet is to put a turbo and ecu in without buying the engine. Its a cheap price 3000 but you also have to consider installation Toyomoto charges 2500 alone an install!.
