How to crank an uninstalled engine?

Default How to crank an uninstalled engine?

Im trying to compression my uninstalled gte but i dont know how to get the engine to crank. Ive tried putting power and ground to the starter, but it just clicks.

Not sure on this motor but you can manual turn motors over from the crank pulley bolt.

i know that but i doubt thats a good way to compression test a car....

1.grab a car battery
2. connect positive side of battery to starter power post
3.ground the negative side of the battery to the motor somewhere


4.there is a small connector from the wiring harness that plugs into the starter (this is the jumper that sends signal to the starter to turn on) you need unplug the harness from the starter then take a third wire and connect it from the jumper post on the starter to the positive side of the battery
