The plastic tab that you pull out for L/R adjustment is just a centering tool to give you an idea of how many degrees you are adjusting to either the left or the right. To actually adjust the projector horizontally you will be using a 5/16 wrench on the adjustment rod coming out of the plastic alignment tool. Vertical adjustment is done on the longer metallic rod further out towards the fender. I believe clockwise rotation brings the projector higher (don't remember exactly).

an 8mm socket on a ratchet works very well too.

It's quite difficult actually to adjust the driverside headlight with a rachet without removing the battery.

Yes, a 8mm socket will do the trick. I did this and reaimed my headlights and it is a pain in the ***. Seriously. You will need a SHORT depth 8mm socket for this to be easy. The socket or wrench cannot be long since the space is so small. To those who tried turning the bolt by hand, good luck because its not going anywhere by hand unless that part of your headlights is broken. It will take about 10-20 turns of the wrench to see a difference in height (up/down) and width (left/right). Park your car on a level surface with the headlights pointed at a wall with your car parked about 20 feet away. I forgot which bolts exactly are for moving the beams up/down and left/right. I think the big silver bolt that sticks out is the one that moves the beam up and down and the other one I think is a black bolt is the one that moves the beam left and right. Try it and see how it works.

Where are you guys finding metric wrenches? My wrench set from Canada is metric, but since living in California, they are all empirical.

I was able to do it with no problems when I had to adjust the lights on my SC.
