Default Coolant Sensor ( ETC ) Voltage Reading

Okay trying to solve my no start issue.

My coolant sensor did not have any resistance when I tested it on the car and then the plastic connector on the sensor just broke off. The pins were all corroded. I am thinking that it was dead. I am picking up a new one later today.

While I was in there I turned the car to the ON position and tested the signal from the ECU on the connector. I got some interesting readings. First off was the power line showed me 9.02v I thought this was supposed to be 12V.

The other issue was that when I swapped the probes it showed me -9.02 volts. I thought it would show 0.00 since the power probe was on the negative line.

Third, without the coolant sensor working on startup does it go into a "fuel dump" mode? You can clearly smell the fuel after trying to crank and crank.

Thanks for the input.

Fuel pump has a relay that controls the voltage, its 9 normally, and 12 under heavy throttle. Also, with no coolant temp reading, the ECU will dump lots of fuel in via the cold start injector.
