Uncontrollable Vehicle Acceleration does affect SC400
I know this is a big topic in the news but the uncontrollable vehicle acceleration does affect the sc400 (maybe other SC's I don't know).
The previous owner of my car said it happened to him twice that his vehicle uncontrollably accelerated without him pressing on the gas. The only way to stop the vehicle from accelerating was to shut off the car. Scary stuff he said. He warned me when he sold me the vehicle what to do if this happened. He said it happened to him in YEARS ago like in 95-99.
Just thought I'd share my input. Obviously our cars are too old to be recalled lol but it is a scary problem nonetheless. Even with this pedal issue I still think Toyota's are the most reliable cars on the road. My past 2 cars have been Toyota's and they've been the most reliable cars I ever owned.

Look I'm not being hysterical here. It never happened to me either. The previous owner of my car is my dad's friend. I just remember him telling me this when he sold me the car... and now in the news all you here is this problem.
Personally I don't care about this problem because the 0.00001% chance that it does happen I'll deal with it. Obviously the problem is being blown out of proportion in the news.

So It wouldn't happen suddenly, and if it happened back then. It probably would only get worse over time.

This thread is useless. If the guy who told you that is telling the truth, then it is definitely a one-off problem. No need to make a generalized post that claims "uncontrolled acceleration does affect SC400". This car has been out of production for 10 years now and this is the first I have heard of the issue.

Our cars are not DBW, drive by wire. Totally different design for the old SC's. I drove my uncle's Valiant once and it had a counter-weighted accelerator pedal that became disconnected and dropped the pedal to the metal. As a 16 year old, I was panicking and focused on steering. My uncle reached over and turned off the ignition, slapped me in the head, and called me a dumb @ss. I keep waiting for the opportunity to do the right thing the next time to shake off the childhood trauma. Perhaps it is time to but a new Camry.
