For many reasons Im concidering putting a 1UZ into my SC300 instead of a 2 or 1J.

1. Smog
2. Cheap engine (can buy replacements for super cheap)
3. Torque
4. Sound
5. Torque
6. Cheap
7. Torque
8. Torqu
9. Cheap
10. Im a redneck and I like V8's
11. I already have a turbo straight 6.
12. Torque
13. Cheap
14. They sound good.

I've been looking into this for quite some time and have not found any info specific to the SC300.

Please do not tell me to just buy a sC400 and do a tranny swap.

Has ANYONE done a 1uz into a SC300 5spd? Ive read murmurs about the front cross member of the 400 being different to the 300. Any differences/pertinent things to know before starting?

 

buy a sc400 and do a 5 spd swap .. hahaha.. JP.. umm.. i dont think i ever heard anyone putting a 1uz into a sc300 yet..

just the opposite of putting a 1jz into a 400...you'd need the radiator, charcoal, ac lines, etc. from the 400. You really would be better off trading your 300 to someone who wants to swap their 400...

Doesnt the 400 have bigger breaks and a stiffer suspension also? Due to its heavier weight? Or is that due to the 400 car as a whole being heavier, and not just the engine components..?

 

400 has slightly bigger brakes. its not even noticeable. everyone upgrades anyways.
I won't convince you about which path is easier, but at the end of it all after you have spent a bunch of money will you really be happy with the 25hp and 46ft/lbs torque increase? I sure wouldn't. my 2jz crushes both those figures with a bolt on kit.

Horsepower : 225 @ 5900 RPM --------- 250 @ 5600 RPM
Torque (lb-ft): 214 @ 3500 RPM --------- 260 @ 4400 RPM

Don't get me wrong, I love the 1uz power-plant. If I had an SC400 I would definitely swap to 5spd and throw some power adders at it. but to swap a perfectly fine 2jz because of torque is not cool

I dont think the OP is too caught up about the gains/power. If he were to get the VVTI version, that's 290 hp right there. In some states, smog is an issue and will not be able to pass smog with a bolt on or a jdm motor swap. Dont get me wrong, some people would kill for a gte or NA-T setup, but may not be applicable or cost effective in the long run. Plus, a v8 sounds awesome paired with a w58

 

Exact same reason i dont want to put a 1jz or 2jz in my 400, it would be more worth it to me to just buy a nice 300 then do it. My 400 is my D/D, no down time with extra car.

oh and if your gonna go that route, then spend the money and get the VVT-i motor. ive had 4 92-97 1uz's & my current 98 1uz, mega difference especially with intake, exhaust & tt 3.76 lsd

 

yup, if you want to swap a 1j into a 400 you need to get the radiator ac lines and charcoal canister from a 300 among other bits and pieces.

I'd imagine the same sort of changeover is needed to put a 1UZ in a 300, just obviously in the opposite direction.
