My steering is pretty hard to steer on low speeds and was looking around the engine bay and saw that this hose was cracked. I'm going to replace it but if anybody could tell me what it is and maybe if this is the cause of the hard steering, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

 

is this a pic of your engine bay? if so you're missing a belt....

that should be a supply line to the power steering pump to the reservoir. Would cause a loss in fluid leading to the hard steering, but that would happen at all speeds not just low speeds.

 

a missing belt will make for hard steering too...

i cant remember the name of it but i do remember it was mad expensive what i did was clean out the power steering reservoir with brake cleaner to get the dirt etc. out of it so the fluid could get by it when the pressure builds up and i just cut the proper size hose ( luckily me auto mechanics teacher had some laying around) and used that ..... has held up fine for a year so far with no leaks and this method only 3 dollars tops
