OK, got my electrical problem sorted out. Now the fun begins
My electrical problem was related to my passenger's seat which was broken and not moving. Got a replacement seat from a junkyard, slapped it in and it works and it's not screwing up my electrical system anymore. I can now officially leave the battery terminals connected. What a great day.
The guy who did the seat gave it the once over twice and as a Toyota guy by trade I was interested in his opinion of my flood recovery vehicle. He said basically I stole it and that he'd give me 5k (twice what I paid) for it right now. We talked about the rarity of the 5 speeds, especially with relatively low miles for a 92.
Anyway, now I'm on to the fun stuff since I've had the electrical problem replaced and I feel good about the mechanical condition of the vehicle.
I think Brakes and BFI are going to be my next 2 things.
I've been looking at brakes online and EBay has a couple of these lowball sellers like R1 and Brakeconcepts or something that sell full sets of slotted rotors and ceramic pads for around 225-250 or so.
I don't necessarily want to go with the cheapest, but if they provide even slightly better stopping power than OEM and they cool better based on the slotting and drilling I'm OK with them not being the top of the line. I drive slightly aggressively, but almost always very safely so I don't rip around in areas where I'll need the best of the best brakes.
Anyone got any experience with R1 or the other cheaper brake sellers? It seems that most people on other forums have had relatively good experiences with these, with the occaisonal early rust or whatever.
I'm going to grab one of the BFI kits off Ebay for like 90 or 100 or whatever and I'm pretty confident I can do that part on my own. I've seen the BFI thread and I've seen the kit and hopefully I'll be able to handle it.
