Downpipe for the SC300
While I was doing my brakes we just happen to be doing a T78 on a supra on the next bay. The tech pulled the HKS downpipe off the supra, looked at my SC and said hell lets put this on your car. We didn't take the time to put it on yet, but holding it up to the car it looks almost as if the HKS downpipe (it is just the lower half only removing one cat on the supra unlike the conventional Tanabe that goes up to the turbo manifold) will bolt right in, opening up the begining section of the exhaust and removing one cat. Question is has anyone experimented with this? I don't know that any good gains could be released but it could be a nice start to freeing up the exhuast of the car ( which I plan to work on later).

The Supra downpipe is the same as a SC300 downpipe. Mine was originally made for a Supra...also I have the mid-pipe that removes the second cat.

Really, the Supra pipe fits? I assume the HKS downpipe is for the single turbo? What brand downpipe are you using CmputerWiz? That is good news...one less custom pipe to make when the time comes!

You have to use the HKS. It is designed for any supra, but in reality it's only the lower half of the down pipe (eliminating 1 cat). The more "common" tanabe downpipes go all the way to the exhaust manifold replacing 2 cats and these units will not work.

With the downpipe and midpipe installed, I *never* had a check engine light. That didn't come on until I decided to take my O2 sensor out.
But I never saw it come on with no cats. Hell, the car didn't even smell bad exhaust wise, it's a pretty clean running engine.

Hey look what I found....here's a pic of my down and mid pipe on the car. This was when I switched to tranny #2. 3rd gear likes to break on these with too much power.

Ok I've looked everywhere I can think of, and can't find a pic of the new midpipe not on the car. Anyways...it looks just like the factory midpipe, the same curvature, but without a cat. Just a 3" piece of pipe that's bent the same shape.

Steven: Is that the HKS downpipe and midpipe or another brand? That really does look like it would be too hard to make if you had to, but it would be easier to buy it all ready made. Thanks for the pictures!
