Default why can't anything just be easy...

hey everyone, i got a new head unit for xmas. its a single din Valor ITS 301d.

now, everyone knows the trouble we have with our SC's in trying to find an install kit, so i ordered the only one available from Metra. and well as the title says....here is what we have.

and the car its all going in.
i love this color SC

so as you can all see my problem is that the head unit is about 1/8" too wide, and about 1/16" too tall...what can i do for this? just chop off the sides? ugh, not sure so can you guys please chime in? thanks a whole lot

just take your time and use a dremel and I'm sure no one will beable to tell..if you look at my dash carefully you can see where I got destructive with it, and I'm not happy with it.

i'm planning on chopping off the side posts and just using the top and bottom pieces...maybe just have the stereo protrude out a tiny bit it shouldn't look bad at all

similar to what I did with my double din..there wasnt much to work with to shave down, so It just had to be removed completely..just a part of customizing I guess..gotta do what needs to be done right. good luck with it, keep us posted

Hopefully it won't be in pieces cause you took a hammer to it cause you got pissed off lol. Anything is better then the stock headunit with the bulb issues and the bleeding screens of death lol.

haha well, here is the update of today. we got the whole car apart, and apparently someone else messed with the audio before, because there were screws missing from the center trim, and wires EVERYWHERE.

here is what i mean by everywhere.

such a mess...and intimidating to two amateurs who have never seen the inside of the SC dash before. notice the top right is missing its bracket from the previous owner on the center dash. so we thought we could get away with splicing the wires together, but certainly NOT with this mess, so progress was halted today and i ordered a new wiring harness which should be here on wednesday. then if you notice in an earlier post by me we had A WORLD of trouble getting the key to release from the ignition, turns out the shifter wasn't totally in park even tho the cluster highlighted park. oh well hopefully it will look amazing and sound amazing when its all done.
