Default best coilover to go low without bottoming out.

Bc Racing coilovers or Stance GR+.

Stacne Gr's I heard good things about them on the SC. Stance Gr+ are out of stock till february.

Bc Racing are available with custom spring rate but I haven't heard much from them on a sc.

What do you guys recommend? My current ebay coilovers aren't cutting it, obviously.

corner 8. They worked with me to try to fix the problem. they sent me new mounts, dampers ect. but Im still not happy. It just wasted alot of my time. They are willing to refund me if I return it.

The customer service from the place I got it from is top notch. The product, thats another story. Maybe its just me though. The coils just dont fit what Im after.

Now I need to find a quick replacement. I was gonna just get stance gr's but being out till february sucks. I need to get my car into the body shop.

Those 2 are great coilovers. Another option to go low are megans or Powered by Max coilovers.

but are the megans or powered by max stiff enough to not bottom out?

Im leaning toward the bc racing coilovers, and getting them in a custom spring rate of 18k front 10 rear like the stance gr's. Im thinking if stance is so good for the sc, and bc racing gets great reviews also for other model lexus's and makes of cars, getting the bc's in stances spring rate should be a safe bet.

What rates you guys think I should get if I go with bc racing? I want a decent ride while low, meaning anything besides teeth rattling on the street. Im not picky. As long as it doesn't bottom out or rub in turns. 18k front 10k rear should be ok right?

PSM/PBM (powered by max) coilovers can be very stiff as they were intentionally made for drifting and they can go as low as putting the whole frame touching the ground, not that you would but just to let you know haha. I can't comment too much on them for how they ride and such and the exact spring rates are cause i don't have them on my SC, but do know of 2 others who have them. TheKevin or dorikaze on here both have them on their SC's.

I didnt know pbm stood for poweredbymax... lol, seriously. I never heard of this brand till 2 days ago.

I been reading great things about pbm though. They are stiff as hell everyone says. I even pmed thekevin for the contact info, btw thanks thekevin. I sent them a email. They are in san diego which is close to me. Im in LA. But thekevin alerted me that they get 3 shipments a year. And I may have to wait. Im hoping they have a set when they reply to me.

Honestly the only thing I liked about corner 8 was the price and customer service. I just wanted to try them out. They have excellent service. Peter from velocity, the distributor of corner 8 was determined to make the system work for me.

When I first got the set, the rear mounts were wrong. I had to wait for the company to send me correct lower mounts. I eventually met up with the representative in person and swapped lower mounts.

Then I noticed the rear wouldn't get low enough, even though I preloaded the spring to the extreme maxing out the coilover. They sent me a new assembly and it was able to go low. Then the front I noticed bottomed out easily even on max. Yeah I was low, but it shouldn't of bottomed out like that. They sent me new dampers but they were too short. I was just fed up cause it was costing my time.

The system on hardest setting was uncomfortable, but stiff, but imo not stiff enough. It bottomed out for some reason for me. On any other setting then full stiff, body roll was very noticable. I think they just sent me the wrong system to begin with. They quality was decent. They just needed to get their specs right. But then again, Im really picky. I know if I had more time I could of goten it to work for me. The price they go for is unbeatable though. If you just want a decent drop, not slammed then they are good. They are probably better or similar to some lower priced tein systems if that matter.

Well Im now waiting on bc racing to get back to me, as well as pbm. I will make my choice from there. I will then remove and return the corner 8's. After getting the new body kit installed, i don't want to be bottoming out, nor ride like a truck. that would be a waste.

The only thing that might "bottom out" on a setup would be the actual suspension arms or the chassis itself.

Unless you have a coilovers that uses the spring perch for adjustment, In which case you could bottom out the actual shock. But the BCR coilovers use the lower mount for height adjustment, makingh them dual height adjustable. So you don't lose suspension travel when you lower the car.

Personally, I would go with BCR coilovers.

They have a better track record and I have run them on 3 of my personal vehicles. I have heard a few bad stories on Stances failing on the track and the damping going south real quick. This is from personal friends I know who Time Attack, not just internet chat.

The Max coilovers are great for going low, and Ive been riding low on mine for for 2 years without any issues.

plus they are local.

Hey,
i was wondering do you have/or can take any pictures of your SC so i can see how the stance looks..? and what exactly are the c8's lacking suspension wise besides a chamber kit and what are you looking to use the suspension for..? also if you can give a detailed description of how they feel and respond compared to the factory suspension i would appreciate it...
Thank you
