Okay guys so my 94 SC300 never came with a remote for keyless entry or alarm. It only came with ONE master key. Now long story short, I locked my ONLY key in the car a couple of weeks ago so I went to the local Lexus dealership to get a key made in order to open my doors by matching the VIN number off my title for the car, instead of using a metal clothes hanger and scratching the **** out of the paint. So I got the key made for $75 based off of my VIN number (I know ridiculous but I needed it) and get ALL THE WAY HOME and it DOES NOT work. Ain't that some ****? So I go back the next day and get them to make a copy of my key that I locked in the car after I hired someone to come out and break into my car for $50 to get the key out. When I took the key that was locked in my car to them to show them the difference between the VIN cut key and the key I got with the car, they said they were 2 totally different key cuts. Now my question to you guys is, why are they different cuts? They said at the dealership someone must of changed the locks on the car, but I really don't understand why? Why would someone change the locks on their car, I've never heard of anyone doing this?
Second question is, I didn't get a remote with my car from the previous owner, and I want to get one. My question is, do I need to get a GENUINE Lexus key transponder/receiver or can it be any aftermarket key? Because I was looking on eBay and they said you needed to match up the FCC ID with a part number for your car or whatever, and some auctions said that some of the remotes would only work with 1998-2000 SC300s. Not sure if they are wrong or if the remotes will work on any SC but I'm confused. Can someone tell me the exact remote I should get WITHOUT spending a fortune lol and how to program it and get it working...?
