my 92 sc300 won't shift into overdrive! Please help me!
earlier today, i driving to MD everything was fine. i was going like about 60 or so and suddenly my rpm jump into 4500 rpm. i always have my overdrive on. i started to think it was my transmission slipping, but why would it slip all the sudden? right now i'm in stress with the problem. have this happen to you before? please help me!

Well, only advice I have and save some money would be pull the pan on the transmission.. Change filter/screen, check fluid for any metal/chunks. If nothing there, take it in, get the transmission flushed OR get it serviced, unless you can do that yourself.. And the reason I asked if the light worked/didn't work, is if it stayed on or stayed off, it could have blown a fuse or the wiring could have been faulty, keeping it from shifting into o/d..
That sounds like a loose ground to me.. or loose wires in general. But hey, i'm just giving my two cents..

Let me chime in on my own O/D tranny problems....I'm almost certain that for me, it's a sensor going bad or maybe a loose wire or bad ground...The O/D off indicator light comes and goes as it pleases at random and has a distinct "Flash,pause,flash,pause,etc..." pattern...But the car shifts into overdrive just fine,There's a notable change in rpms when I switch the O/D button between on/off and the car shifts smoothly between gears and doesn't drive like crap. I will check the fluid levels and look for any loose wires in the immediate future.

Oh and for the record, You don't really have to drive with the O/D button turned on and engaged, The overdrive feature is essentially for fuel economy...Don't quote me on this next part but, But I believe you can drive "faster" with the O/D turned off...try that with the "ETC PWR" button to boot with it.
