I've always been afraid to put my headlights in the oven. I'm afraid I'll melt or blacken them. I can't even bake a cake haha. Is there a DIY on light-baking somewhere? Such as oven temp, time, etc.
3 to 5 minutes at 350deg..take them out, use gloves, pull the lens from the housing.. thats it. I have done my lights twice with no ill effects..if you can microwave a cup of coffee, you can do this with your lights
baking headlights in the oven is a piece of cake..lol but when doing it disasemble the headlight completely every bolt and rubber piece soo they wont melt.
i wanna paint mine with a blk housing and get halos in the highs n lows.
which i saw off this site when i was browsing youtube.
Haha right on. I'm assuming preheat first? I might pick up a used set on eBay or something and experiment with them. If all goes well, I'll probably get in that group buy for those clear lenses.
yes preheat to 350, remove all the clips/bulbs/screws/wires from the housings. Put them on an upside down cookie sheet, pop them in and go for 3 minutes, take them out, and if the lens does not come off fairly easily, pop them back in for a couple more minutes.
What would be the difference of buying the clear lens in the group buy as opposed to buying some ebay headlights with clear lens and removing them and putting them on your OEM headlights?

Ebay lenses dont't quite fit the OEM housings. There is a bit of a gap but it can be made to work. It never did look just right to me.

You can't forget to put in a layer of newspaper so the plastic doesnt deform due to the heat from the tray it is sitting on
What I want to do is just swap the stock projector into the eBay housing because I bought hids 9006 and the new headlights came with a diffrent style bulb but I want to use everything from the new headlight minus the projector.
then your going to have to bake them, there is no way around that.
Exactly..
And I LITERALLY just did this to my headlights.. not hours ago.. I have a thread posted on it.. Works like a charm and is very VERY easy to do! I love CL's DIY write-ups!!
