Default PIC request: Throttle cable

I tightened my throttle cable on my SC400 and am getting terrible gas mileage. I want to put it back to stock, but do not know exactly how much to loosen the nuts to put the throttle to stock. If someone could take a picture of this location that is STOCK, never being tightened, I would really appreciate it.

pretty sure the throttle cable doesnt affect gas mileage...just makes it so there is no play in your pedal...

in the original thread, people talked about how it messed up MPG. I only did one mod to my car which was this and it has been about 7 tanks of gas at 13-15 mpg when before the mod I was getting 18-21

How is it idling? Does it seem to be idling high? Have a vacuum line incorrectly installed? Any lights flash on the dash? Any difference in performance?

nope. idle is pretty much painted on like 500-750 (not exactly sure what RPM it is).

adjusting the throttle cable like your describing wont effect your MPG's unless its idling high. There is another issue at hand that is killing your MPG. Check ALL your vacuum lines, make sure there is no CEL, and when was the last time you did basic maintenance?

I think your gas mileage is affected because you are using the same force as you always have but now your cable is moving further because you've made it tighter, thus using more gas.
