Jetta or Sc300: NEED HELP!
LOL when I was riding around with Adam Butler (abutler696) in Grayton beach; 4 chicks were walking down the road as we slowly cruised by
and one of them said: "Oh I would SO do that car"
Adam hit the brakes and I hung my head out the window: "You would do this car huh?"
They looked a tad young so I wasn't sure; and Adam had/has a gf so they are off limits to him LOL

I've had some experience with Jettas,by the time you get them working right(exhaust,Bilsteins)something always happens.
The motor mounts are crap,as are the final drives in the tranny, and when these things begin to fail, that's when these cars show their true colors.
I have always known that Toyotas were the hit as far as reliability, but I could never live with one of those interiors on the older cars.
As far as finding one,I guess I would tend to stay away from some extreme hi-mile cars, but even the higher mileage cars can be alright depending on the condition and how well they were maintained mechanically.I'd look for a car with a history at a dealer, that way you know what's been done to it,then take it to a good mechanic if you know of one, otherwise to the dealer.

. I agreed about noise, but I don't compare Lexus SC/LS with VW
. Does a Civic has a lot of noise also? especially now that you all been driving a SC for a while...
Well that is true, I've been spoiled by driving around a lot of quiet, quiet-*** Toyota cars, but even my beater '87 Volvo that I sported for a few months wasn't as rattly and loud as the '93 Corrado I used to commute in three days out of the week. The '82 Corolla I used to ride in before my father donated it back in '96 was a smoother ride, honestly.
BTW, 'till the day we gave that faithful old Corolla away to donation services, there was NEVER a problem with it. Apparently it's still on the road today! My father got a notice from the County in the mail last year that was about some delinquent parking tickets the Corolla acquired in San Francisco. (He forgot to remove the license plates when he gave it away so it was still registered under our house address). Anyway, do the math and that's a 19-year-old low-end car that is still in driveable condition. I took Toyota quality for granted until we got a Mercury minivan. BTW, Mercuries suck!
