1jzgte swap questions
I was looking into a 1992 5 speed with high mileage to do the swap into. I wanted to know how hard it would be to get the 1jzgte motor swapped into the car. for transmition i was going to go with the 5 speed out of the 7mgte powered supras (MK3), i think that would be easier and cheaper than putting in the 6 speed out of the MK4. do you think this swap would be easier than doing the 2jzgte?
also, where can you get the 1jz motor from I have seen a few come across thepartstrader.com but thats it.
thanks for your help guys.

I can't say if the swap would be easier or not but I know it would definately be cheaper. The 1JZ-GTE(Soarer and I think J-Spec MKIII Turbos, etc...) is a reliable and high horsepower proven engine(2.5l Twin Turbo). I think that is a good idea to do that swap. I would look in Japanese used parts for Sale ads/Used car adds or maybe Japanese wrecked car/junkyard websites. They also use that engine in Australia, England and various other parts of Europe so you are not relegated to Japanese Car searches. There out there, you just gotta look for em.
i don't know if the 5-speed from the 7m will fit on the 1jz motor
a 5-speed from a SC3/Supra will fit though
the 1jz swap would prolly cost less, but it will be a bit tougher
the wiring harness will be made for a RHD vehicle so it will line up on the left-hand side... the ECU will be totally different than a 2jz ECU which will require an entire wiring harness swap
