Default Fun on 2 and 4 wheels...

After a little searching around for the best deals, I finally got my roof rack pieced together and took it on the road last weekend.

Looks pretty slick IMO, and is easily removable when I don't need it.

Oh yea... turned LOTS of heads going down the freeway! Ppl were prob saying WTF?

Nice, I was thinking about getting one. How much did it run you if you don't mind me asking?

Well... here are the components, and where I got them and what I paid:

Q14 clips - craigs list $30 for all 4 (retail is $35/ box of 2, so you need 2 boxes- total $70)
Q towers - well, my father had a set that he doesn't use anymore, so these were free. (retail: $159.00)
48" Crossbars (2): Sports Chalet, 25% discount until Aug 28th? $116 for both (retail $70 ea.)
Wind Faring: Sports Chalet, $57 (Retail $69)
Viper Bicycle mount (2): Sports Chalet, $230 (Retail $139 ea.)
Lock Cores (set of 8): Sports Chalet, $71 (Retail $86)

Grand total...

Me - $504
Sukaz - $ 766 + tax

I'm sure I could have gotten all my stuff through craigs list, but since the Q towers were free, I figured what the hell, take advantage of Sports Chalet while I can.

BTW, I heard that Sports Chalet will not be carrying the Yakima line anymore, so grab what you can while they still have it, 25% off ain't too bad!

I wasn't too sure I was going to get back into mountain biking when I bought it, but I am coming around to it again, so I might upgrade in the future depending.

I really like the shifters though, lever type, and have the ability to downshift 3 gears with one stroke.

Me- $90 for:
Qtower
Cross bar
Fairing
2 Steelhead bike racks
6 SKS Locks
$15- 2 Keys... >_>
$45- Q Clips
$60- Q Stretch Tower

:]

you should invest on a Q Stretch Tower.. it makes your setup a lot nicer and MORE solid.

but its good to see people who get YAKIMAS and actually USE IT :] instead of the typical poser! Props to you! clean ride btw! as for the fairing.. see if u can sell that and get a 48" fairing.. ;]
Gluck
