power steering help....

Default power steering help....

power steering has gone dead just randomly after making a long big fast u turn.. I did not notice i lost the power steering till i got to a stop and notice the steering wheel was very hard to turn. got home open the hood to check. nothing is leaking everything is clean. atf in the power steering is full....to many dam problems with the car soooo i went to sleep woke up this morning right now to check the car turned it on power steering was working in my driveway...but right when i got out of the drive way when i have the car more gas than i would getting out of the driveway the power steering just go's out again.... anyone know what the problem is? i have nothing i can find no leaks no noises

Do a flush of the entire system and change/clean the rack and pinion screen. It may be clogged or real dirty. Its kinda hard to get to, but its been done and has been known to cause problems on the SC. Good luck!

ill try it! thanks! ^....aslo an update when im on a full stop the steering wheel is stiff but if i rev high like to 3 or 4 or 5 rpms the power steering kicks in just while im reving.... also check if the pump is pumping...the return hose is spitting out atf fluid so im guess that the pump is good... what u guys think?

ok guys i got a another power steering pump but befor i put it on...one last question please help me out... the weird thing is sometimes my power steering works normal? like right when i start it...or in some turns it will work..1 out of 10 turns will turn normal....is this the pump? weird.... is there a sensor that tells the pump to go on high or low mode? thats what cleanshots told me did anyone do a mod for this? like to keep it on high mode...if so can you help me out send me the link... i have search on here for it and nothing came up or im not shure what to search for... thanks

as mentioned there is a solenoid on the rack with a screen that gets clogged. this restricts ps flow making it hard to turn unless you can rev it high enough to overcome the restriction. do a search and youll find pictures and instructions to lead you in the right direction.
