Hard Top SC
i have a manual hardtop. i would think that a hardtop would be lighter considering a sunroof would need more bracing for it to be structurally sound which is a plus since sc's are heavy to begin with.
Dang the orig owner who bought that was one cheap a$$ person. That person probaly walked in the Lexus dealership and was like, "Give me the basement base model. I want roll up windows, cloth seat, no sun roof, no radio, no ac, manual trans, manual tilt, manuel seats." That customer probaly even brought in a coupon from the local sunday newspaper haha.
I bet the owner's name was Mr Goldstein from NJ lol.

You can see the number of 5 speed and automatic 92 SC300's sold here: http://www.lexus.com/contact/pdf/1992/1992SCspecs.pdf
I remember seeing at least one minimally equipped 5 speed SC300 with cloth at the Lexus dealer when they first came out ... probably remember it because the first LS400 I bought in 1990 had a gray cloth interior. I remember being surprised that the 92 SC was available with cloth since cloth had been discontinued on the U.S. spec LS400 after the 1991 model year.
7sins, how is the cloth interior holding up? The cloth interior in my 90 LS looked like new when I sold it in 2003 after driving it 13 1/2 years. I loved the cloth interior in my 90 LS although I have to admit that I like the leather in my current 2000 LS400 more than I thought I would.

My friend also has a hardtop 5-speed no leather, oddly enough the whole quick access to the back seat feature restores the passenger seat back to its original position in his car but in my 97 it doesnt
I have a 97 hardtop manual. It does have leather though, but I honestly don't think a sunroof and leather makes a car luxurious. KIA and other crappy companies offer vehicles with leather and sunroofs, are they luxury cars?
I love the hardtop, my head don't hit the headliner like on SC' with a sunroof. I have a 92 SC with a sunroof and the first week of owning it, I had to swap out to Supra seats.

My car has power seats and such. The passenger seats still will move forward on it's own when the seat back is forward and moves back on it's own when the seat back goes back.
Kansas, The cloth interior is holding up excellent. The driver's seat has a small hole on the upper bolster area as seen alot in S13s. Everything still works as far as all the seat movements the climate control display is foggy as they always get. The stock radio didn't work, but I replaced it once I started driving the car daily. It now sports an in dash TV. Figured I had to add some luxury since my car was stripped of some. The A/C works but the lines all leak so it needs new lines. Just for arguements sake yes I did check all the o-rings in all the A/C fittings and replaced them, but it is in fact the lines as it still leaked after that.
As far as the interior goes I do plan on swapping it out for black or atleast a two tone situation. Maybe supra seats or S2k seats or something FIA approved that has a reclineable back. In all honesty I'm not to worried about the interior right now as the poor car is pathitically slow even with super advanced timing (lol) So I'm trying to put together a motor first and 5spd it. However I'm one of those kind of people who if I see a good deal I jump on it if I can.

. When's the last time you saw a luxury car without luxury!
