Hi guys,

People who have driven their SC's for a while, I'd like to hear how many miles you are getting out of your tires? Please specify the types and sizes of wheels and tires you are running. I'm especially interested in cases where you have different sizes of wheels and tires front front to back, like the Supra 17x8" and 17x9.5" and the L-tuned 18x8" and 18x9.5" setups. I'm asking this because I heard that the Turbo Supras are reputed to wear out rear tires fast. Also because I bought my SC six months ago, have put 12k spectacularly enjoyable miles on it, and am now ready to replace the wheels and tires that came with it.

1. Original equipment Goodyear Eagle, 44,000 miles.
2. Bridgestone Potenza SO-2, 27,000miles.
3. Currently using Pirelli P7000, 23,000 miles so far.

I have stock wheels, maintain tire pressure at 35 PSI, and rotate every 5000 miles.

Turbo Supras typically run really aggressive tires with really low tread wear ratings.

They also run alignment settings that literally eat tires. When you have a lot of negative camber (for additional maneuverability) you go through tires quickly.

I think SC's are going to run through tires much more slowly if you're running a 'normal' treadwear rating (i.e. 300+) vs. an aggressive 'max performance' tire like the Pirellis I run (120 I think) (cost $1300 a set).

Additionally, the stock alignment specs for the cars are likely quite different as they're typically driven for different purposes.

My point is that IMO you can't compare average tire wear between the two types of vehicles.

I get about 5000 miles per set, if I'm lucky. usually the fronts go till about 8k, but its better to go ahead and replace them all. Change oil, change tires...LOL

I have the original OEM tires for my SC400, Goodyear GS-D. The car has 76,000 miles on it. The GS-Ds are at end of life now. They have been used in the summer only so they have aprox. 38,000 miles on them I would imagine. The other set of tires, also mounted on their own rims are Bridgestone Blizzacks, they also have aprox 38,000 miles on them. They have 1/2 tread life on them. each set is on for 6 months, winter and summer.

The GS-Ds will be replaced with Bridgestone Potenza S Pole Positions which are uni-directional and will go on in one month on new 18" rims SSR GT-3's.

The Blizzacks will be replaced next fall with new Blizzacks on a new to me set of Supra Rims.

255/40/18 Kumho's Supra 712's. Stock alignment specs. 18x8.5 wheels. They wear *fast*, and have *NO* wet traction (for me at least). I've gone thru a few sets of them now.

I'm going for BFG's this time, Jeff (sc300turbo) swears by them. They cost more, but if they're *that* much better, it's worth it!

Have you thought at all about the Yokohama AVS Sports?

My understanding is that they have excellent wet traction... I've heard good things about the BFG's as well.

I'll be getting either the Yokos or the BFGs when the PZeros wear out.

I've looked at a few brands, but I'm going to go with one that's proven on our cars. And I'm not really worried about wet traction, usually when it rains I drive something else.

I just want the tires to grip when there's a Porsche 911 GT2 beside me. I saw one of those tonight, sweet car. over 460hp from the factory. I'm still waiting to see a GT10, 580hp.
