Default Oh the humanity

A friend of mine was sitting in my SC the other day, taking in the beauty when, they noticed the rubber grommet on the windshield washer stalk had brown funk on it. I had never seen it and have detailed my interior many times. It is actually on both stalks, I scrubbed and scrubbed it with Vinlyex and it got maybe 50% on the first try. Funny thing is if it is sun damage, I wonder why my steering wheel is nearly perfect.

Funny you should ask that, I bought the car from a DR. and I dont get near it unless Im totally clean. Its the 2 big flexible grommets were the stalks go into the column. The rest of the int. is spotless.

Yeah, that kinda just comes with age. Ive even noticed the brown stuff in pictures of very nicely modded interiors. Ive had it on both of my SC's and have had no luck cleaning it.

might be some kind of mold or fungus growing, try rubbing alcohol to kill them.. but just on the rubber.. btw try it on a piece of rubber first, idk if alcohol has a bad effect on rubber...

That brown funk was addressed in this members post about his interior redo.

Hope it helps.

It seems like he already has his off the car, I used Citrol made by Schaeffers, and it cleaned fairly good. If you use too much, it'll start to eat things up, kind of wished I would have used the cleaner before the Vinylex. I wonder how hard it is to remove both stalks?
