Not down shifting with ECT off, is this normal?
My 1jz soarer ( same tranny as a sc3) does not down shift into 1st or 2nd when I floor it in 3rd of 4th with ECT on normal but it shifts really quick and snappy when I have ECT on pwr. Is this normal with these cars?
make sure all your throttle cables are tight. Theres 3: throttle, cruise control, and tps sensor.
After the years they gain slack. I know a loose tps sensor cable would cause your shifting problems

I just checked it and it has a little bit of slack, how do I tighten them?
I think both the 300 and 400 have the tps cables.
Here's how it goes:
step on the pedal => pull the throttle cable => pulls the cruise control cable => pulls the tps sensor cable
You want to make sure to tighten ALL of these, as in, no slack. DON'T OVER TIGHTEN it though!!! You can tighten them by moving 2 bolts and turning the bolt on the wire.

Tightened them down today and made a world of difference!. I was afraid it was the tranny again after replacing the shift solenoids.
Throttle is nice and snappy now, feels like a new car.
