Very few cars can get more than one or two horsepower TOPS out of a factory "chip" like what Superchips and others sell. Turbo cars like Subaru's and VW's and diesels get a bump because of boost and timing increases, but a regular n/a car will not benefit, at least not for the price. I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

good advice. I will save up for the big upgrade then. I really like the underdrive turbo system for the exhaust. i have a 1995 sc400 4.0 , i wish there was a lesson on how to make a turbo work like a subaru . I would hate to hear my coolant hose explode under my hood . Any advice on how to make this thing work properly would be awesome!

^^^I hope he means a bottom mount turbo kit. But I have no idea about the Subaru/Lexus connection. WTF does a flat-four engine have to do with an I6 or V8 motor?

in other words subaru has a great drivetrain. simmode1 i suggest you help people besides criticize them ,what goes around comes around. Anyways for those mature members who really want to help me, A STS rear mount turbo sounds like the right way to go. Any idea on a suggested size of the snail that will work well?

subaru drivetrain sucks. anything thats not out of an sti, old or new, is garbage.

you need to do some reading on turbos. your questions are way too broad to answer.

Go post this question on Lextreme and see how you're received.

We're not trying to be dicks here, man, but your questions are way too broad and really don't make a lot of technical sense. It's like you're trying too hard to sound like you know your stuff. Just relax, take your time and learn. We're here to help, but you've gotta do your part too.

Also the v8 in older q45's saw near 40 hp increases with just chip modding. But if your engine is a vvti engine it's best to just leave it alone.

toyota ecus are different. they are a proprietary design. toyota has never released any information on them. people only guess what kind of chip it is and still there is debate with no solution. there is a lot more info if you google it or go to clubna-t and search.

dont compare nissan and toyota. its like apples and oranges when it comes to factory ecu modifications. the nissan ecu can be made to work with a daughter board and an eprom reprogram on just about any older model nissan.

the only company that i can think of that has the secrets behind toyota factory ecu is Mines since they sell reprogrammed one. i figure toyota gave them the info or they paid up the booty to get it.

what is your basis for saying that vvt-i engine should be left alone.
