I used SEMS for all of my stuff as well and I really liked it.. I actually just unwrapped my black wood parts for the interior as I ordered a black airbag a while back for the 3 spoke black wood steering wheel.

Your 2 hour dash removal technique, you wanna sell that via paypal? Haha.

Can you take off the center wood trim on a 1992 (no passenger airbag) without removing the entire dash?

I have swapped most of my Brown (dark tan) to black other than the dash, having a 92, i will have to paint it or put in a 93+ with a airbag in the opening.

but have some SEMs paint waiting for it to get done, one day when it isnt 30 outside in my garage

I used the SEM stuff too (the ebay link you sent me a long time ago) and I couldn't believe how well it all came out. One of my friends couldn't believe how well the lower dash pieces and a-pillars had come out from a spray can so I had him watch me spray the dash and watch it dry to looking like a factory black dash. That stuff is amazing.

And yeah, I didn't find the dash all that hard to take out either.

What are you using to prep the surfaces for paint? Cleaning with household stuff or special painting cleaners?

No there are three 10mm bolt that need to be removed and can only be reached by removing the dash

YOU

ARE

WRONG

there are no 10mm nuts on the 92 non-air bag dash. it is 3 or 4 wingnuts that are easily removed when you take off the golve box. the most left side of the trim is on a clip.

i just did it. the rim has the studs and they go through the dash and are held on by wing nuts. and you know they are good kind that lexus uses since they were gold

Using a degreaser and then the rough side of a sponge with dawn. Then wiping that off.
