I know it's too late for him, but this type of air intake can actually hurt performance more than it helps... no longer will it be sucking in cooler ambient temperature air, but hot, engine bay air... there may be less restriction, but the higher temps will negate that...

When they test this on a dyno though, they open the hood and put a fan right on top blowing nice cool air, so it does show a slight power increase...

My advice - build a cold air box to run cool air to the filter and block it off from the rest of the engine compartment... then... wrap the pipe in heat wrap - because it is aluminum it will get hot with engine compartment heat and act like a heatsink to warm the incoming air even more - another bad thing... the plastic/rubber stock tubing actually insulates the air to an extent...

But it sounds cool.

He's right though. Try making some kind of heat shield or air duct. product.sc has an air duct that I have yet to see pics of. Hint hint* I'll post a pic of my heat shield for you if I can find it.

thanks for the factual input, but that information is pretty much well known. and one thing you forgot to mention is how the resonators help on stock intakes, they act as a reservoir tank on unused air, and can be used when the engine needs it under load. im actually just getting little feedbacks for self curiosity, for my own n/a applications. im actually conducting some new stuff for my sc. hows a ARC air chamber box sound? with 3 inch piping? and a cold air feed? haha

just look at random cold air intake system pic's youll get it eventually. haha no worries about it though, atleast we got it resolved.

the idea is to keep hot air away from the intake. as cold air is more dence. [more oxygen in hense]

get that idea right, and youll learn it just fine.
