ok i did my search and couldn't find anything.

i'm on stock brakes right now, i will do the supra brake upgrade once i get the rims to fit it. but i was wondering if i could go ahead and upgrade to the supra rear brakes for now, and if they will clear my 6 spoke 16's.

i drift alot and the more stopping power from my hand brake the better.

what are good REAR brake upgrades?

also, if i do this, will the rear overpower the front if i hit my brakes hard? i dont want to have to lock up my brakes and have the rear lock up haha.

 

let me help you:

1. the calipers dont do any of the e-brake function. out cars have brake shoes inside the rear rotors for that purpose. retarded design but oh well. it is not a nissan where the rear calipers work as regular brakes and hand brake.

2. upgrading one will throw off your brake bias towards the back...not a good thing

3. not sure if the supra rear brakes will clear 16" wheels. i always had TT or other bigger wheels so i cant tell you on that one.

the only reliable way to get a solid ebrake is to convert to hydraulic master cylinder. there is a universal one available from CNC Brakes and plenty of write ups on ziptied, zilvia, and mazda forums to show you how its done.

if you drift a lot and want the back to lock up to correct your line and other fun things, lol, i would say get a hydraulic ebrake. my car has been drifted a lot over the last two years and the stock ebrake is not worth a damn. maybe im weak. lol. i have shoes with a lot of life left as well as everything properly adjusted and it still does not want to lock up the rears.

maybe some other members can chime in on their ebrake. i have tried everything and it doesnt help. my buddies s13 vert had a sick ebrake that locks up with ease and i hope mine would do that too but alas.

i think i will be doing hydro one in spring.

 

I just went out and bought new brake shoes for the e-brake on my car, adjusted them about 20 times, and got absolutely nothing. Apparently lexus is too luxurious to have cars that lock the back tires. As my friends like to say, I have a parking brake, not an e-brake. Probably going to start pricing out a hydro, unless there is a better way. Any offers.
