Try keeping your foot out of it

That does seem a little low though. Have you done a tune up yet? Do you know when the last one was performed? Recent oil change? Check tire pressure? There are a number of things that will affect your mielage and when all combined can have a considerable affect on it.

Welcome to the boards!

Tank is about 20 gallons.

Make sure you tune the car up, change oil, run some seafoam through it.

If you can get the fuel filter changed. Taking it easy on the throttle will help.

How many miles on the car?

I would suggest reading up on properly using seafoam before you just throw it in... it does help wonders!

500 to the tank?!? WTF am I doing wrong??? The most I have ever clocked is 375-380. Is the difference from the 300 to the 400 that big on fuel consumption? Obviously having a manual has something to do with it but it shouldnt make that big a difference on the highway.

welcome to the forums and you may need a serious tune up.... 100 gal at half is possible if you have a heavier foot than Paul Walker =)

Its probably your fuel needle not reading correctly. I once had a car that which on full tank the needle would drop rather quickly to half way with little miles driven. But once the needle reached halfway then it takes forever for it to go to EMPTY. Your car might have the same problem. But like what a few here suggested, go get it checked out if it continues.
