Wow thats odd to take hvac controls and to have the time to grab both or even know there would be a market for the control unit...I know that area well and am surprised but I guess with the economy where its at people will grab and sell anything for some coin. sad but good luck gettin it all back together though I am impressed you got the control unit included in the $400 total price.
There are a bunch of different designations that this car could have and depends on state; salvage, junk, automotive recycler,Rebuilt/Reconstructed, or TLV. But keep receipts and pics and police report/insurance claim and that will help if you ever decide to sell the car.
my car was broken into at the junkyard! 3weeks ago, lucky I left the door unlock so they didnt brake the window, and the tried to steal my touch screen, but couldnt get! MOTHERFU*KERS!!
Sorry to hear that bro. BTW, I noticed you're in VA. Were you just visiting DC for the night? Where in DC did this happen. I'll make sure to be extra careful when I'm in the area.
Damn thiefs!

is there any way to fix the title since it wasnt totalled out as far as being wrecked?
sorry to hear but at least you got $3600 for mods now without needing any body repair. I'd rather have my car totalled this way than getting hit in the rear fender.
+1 on that.... and somehow i'd like to consider him lucky haha.
It's not a tragety, it should be called "Im LUCKY!"

Have you spoken with the insurance company and actually bought it back? If not then ask them how they plan to report it. I know you can "wash titles" all the time course thats somewhat illegal but I don't know if there is a legit way to change it or a manner to hold the title thats less detrimental than any of the ones I mentioned. I know a few people who have tried to make a buck buy salvage cars fix them and change the title at least in VA and failed miserably.
