Default Part 2: Aristo Engine Swap.

****Filling the knowledge pool before diving off the platform*****

Alright well it has been a little while since I redid the entire suspension ( https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=334052 ) and I have not even had the chance to drive the car yet!!! A lot has happened since then. I took a package to get out of AMD, took a nice long summer vacation with the kids and wife, and got a new job, moved to the other side of town and now time to get moving on the car. I miss it SOOOOO MUCHH!!! Plus the wife is dying to drive the car with the new suspension.

So to recap, I have done every arm, rod, and sway bar – upgrading to supra on the ones I could - in the car and put the Megan coilovers in. When I was doing this I saw multiple leaks in the engine bay and when I turned the car on it shrieked at me. The PS pump was dead. I pulled the engine and there she lay.

Well after hemming and hawing I have decided to get an aristo engine and do the conversion. I wanted to run some stuff by you guys to verify that I have absorbed the information correctly as the numerous sources all have their own slant to them. I would also like to put together a “how to” for an aristo – the other how tos out there are using USDM harness, or engine, ect.
  • I am keeping the aristo harness. I will be going AEM later but right now I will keep the harness and rewire it myself. This will keep the VPC.
  • I will use the TT auto as this will help with my tranny not melting coming out of the driveway
  • I will be doing something with the turbos. I am not positive yet. I would like to keep the TT because I WANT to. I have a 300ZXTT and I like Twin Turbos. Lets not get into the spool conversation, I know J
    • To me this is the big unknown of what to do because I do not want to buy stock USDM turbos as I will be going larger turbos. However I do not want to put a restrictor in my exhaust to keep from overboosting because that defeats the purpose of having a larger exhaust!!
  • I will be replacing the cams at a later time – I want to drop it in stock to limit the variables that I potentially will have to diagnosis.
  • The other parts that I will be needing:
    • Supra Turbo Fuel Pump, strainer, rubber seat and clip
    • Intercooler and Intercooler piping
    • Power Steering Reservoir
    • TT Fuel Pump ECU
    • Custom Driveshaft from local shop that is designed from the SC400 Drive shaft. Transmission output flange. Also, extra rubber flex coupler. – need to see if I need this with a custom 1-piece DS.
    • Power Steering Lines – new from local hydro shop.
    • Water pump
    • MSD 8920 Tach Adapter
    • Throttle cable – comes with engine
    • Supra Turbo fan – aftermarket fans most likely.
    • Supra Brake Booster vacuum fitting for Intake manifold.
Well that looks to be the list to get the car going. Again this is just to get the car turned on. I will be working on other stuff later after I clear the initial bugs out and the car is running. I will be going cams, gears, turbos, manifolds, AEM, injectors, fuel rail.

Please let me know if you see anything that I am missing.

You don't need a custom driveshaft, swap the rear output and rubber flex coupler from SC400 transmission and it bolts right up to a SC400 driveshaft. Use SC400 transmount to chassis also if I remember correctly. The lower oil pans on the aristo is going to be something else, I'll leave a little to the imagination. Good Luck!

yea I know I do not need to do a custom DS but I was looking at the 400 and needing to have the xtra coupler and thinking about later when I put down the power. I am looking in the neighborhood of 700-800rw.

On the oil pans from the reading all I will need to do is swap mine that I have currently. I still have my GE engine and all the parts so swapping that and the sumps. Is I missing something? That was always something on my mind as everyone has the same reply to the oil pans (good luck with the oil pan )

thanks for the info and the support.
