Hey, some of you might know my car is undergoing an Aristo engine and transmission swap.
I went to check up on the car today and the tuner that is working on it is having a problem that he was hoping someone on here could help with. Hes done hundreds of engine swaps, and has a guy in Japan helping him, but still cant figure this one out.
So basically the car fires up and will start for about 3 seconds, then it dies. He has changed everything, almost every sensor on the engine is new, it has new coilpacks, the fuel is flowing perfect. it has every freakin thing it needs to run, but it just wont run. We are thinking it could be something with the wiring, maybe a circuit is messed up. im not sure, if anyone has ANY idea at all, i will forward those ideas to him and maybe you guys can help us with the problem.
an air fuel controller? if you mean like an AEM one or something then no, at this point its stock and hes trying to get it running before anything aftermarket will go on it.
Mine acted like that when I had an AFC hooked up and I accidentally had it set up as a Karmen sensor from the old engine. Fired up then died. Have them OHM out the wires for the MAP.

Hmm well theres no afc hooked up. ill tell them to ohm out the wires like you said.
coolant temp sensor on the water neck for the upper rad hose. my car did exactly the same thing when the wires got dryrotted and snapped off the last time i pulled the engine.
there is no polarity, so just make sure they are connected. brown 2 pin plug.
this coolant temp sensor is for the ecu to use to base it's start fuel map off of. better check your sparkplugs too.. most likely wet with fuel.
Ok so i came back from the shop today and EVERYTHING major is ok, all sensors are perfect, coil packs are perfect.
there are 2 things we think may be causing this problem we still have.
1) i had an aftermarket stereo installed before the swap and was giving me no start problem for a while, that may or may not be it.
2) we think the ecu is not seeing the fuel injectors and not telling them to fire, its getting voltage, but not signal.
a few questions, can i just take the factory alarm off?? because after i got my stereo installed the alarm was goin crazy. so could i just take it off? is it easy? and what will that affect?
also anyone got any ideas on the fuel injector problem? i think hes going to trace the wires and see if he can find a short or something.
but thanks epik ill let him know about that too, i think the sensor is fine but ill let him know anyway, any help is appreciated.
Does it do the exact same thing each time you try to start it ?
Same amount of run time ? It sounds like the fuel pump may not be on.
fuel pump is working, all lines are working for the fuel.

thats a good idea, ill see if he has another ecu he can try. yea might be wiring, hes checking that too. but again that ecu idea is good ill let him know.

so you are getting no fuel at all? and the pump is priming but not running? suing what pump? 255 walbro or supra mk4?
hmm ok ill tell him about the grounds.
the fuel pump and all the lines work, but something about the ecu not seeing the injectors and not telling them to give fuel. the pump is a denso one for a mk4
