Default Help Me Decide

I have a 92 SC300 with 83 on the dash ,but i have a friend with a 87 Supra with a full 90 conversion including 1jz in it fully worked ,doing at least 400+,twin turbo rims, walbro fuel pump and tilt suspension etc. My SC like I said is fully stocked, it just has low mileage. Should I go for the TRADE?

If you want an older car with no luxury, but fast.... sure. Otherwise the majority would say no. Depends on your age and the age of people giving you advice. Kids always go for the speed first and forget every other aspect. A little experience will put you on the idea you are basically buying a motor on a frame, but you have a nice luxo coupe that CAN be built right now if you stick with it and start the build process.

The two cars are night and day, choose wisely.

+1 with what he said. the cars are both different. one the Lexus is made for comfort as the Toyota is made mainly for speed. if you like the comfort just keep the Lexus and do a 1jz swap with a few BPU+ upgrades and you'll have comfort and speed.

i own both the mk3 87 supra and sc300. i agree with everyone else. personally i would trade for the supra, just cause the works been done for you as well as it already has power and some nice mods.

When I was in my teens I built my first three cars from a frame. One was a lowrider truck, one was a car, the other was a bike. This is early 90's here, so all I had to choose from was mid to late 80's stuff. When I got into my 20's and was able to buy stuff from the 90's I found out quickly anything before 90 blows compared to 90+ cars. The industry changed everything. Cars got SO much better from a design standpoint. In my 30's I' buying from the 2k+ range and don't even get me started on the new gen stuff.... so hawt. Going backwards is not progress.

They rode smoother, quieter, had more power from the factory, better interiors, everything changed from the old way to the new way around 1990.

For me, there's very few older cars I'd own. The really old classics, or an 80's Porsche Turbo (had one). The newer cars just offer so much more AND they can be boosted. If you already have a nice newer (than 1990) car you are going backwards to the square days by trading down. Sure it has juice, but that's it........ it has none of the newer amenities. SO again, choose wisely.

People will look at it and say "oh he has a fast....... old *** car".

its a stock 92 SC. what does it have that a mk3 supra does not. both are toyota cars. i dont see the point of any of your arguments. if it was a stock 8some supra with a 7m then i wouldnt go for it. 7m is one of the most unreliable motors stock. period. you come out in the morning and look at it wrong and it have problems.

one of my very good friends is a supra fanatic. hes has owned over 20 of them. i have built motors for him and worked on most of his cars. i have worked on countless SC as well. the supra is just as easy to work on and i dont think i have ever said "what were they thinking" out of frustration.

its all personal choice. i love boxy 80s cars. the SC is way to rounded for my taste. if the supra wasnt that damn heavy i would never even buy an SC. the only reason i got an SC because it was a 5sp.

you can have a supra with power windows, doors, leather, heat and AC. and whats better then a sunroof...targa top.

i say trade for the supra. not even close. worst case scenario you trade for the supra, you dont like it, you sell it, and get another bone stock SC.

mileage doesnt mean anything on our cars. they drive forever.

^^^can YOU not read? obviously not. i know it has a 1jz. thus its worth it. i was saying if it was a 7m powered supra then it wouldnt be worth anything.

learn to read not skim. thats why more then half the kids in school dont know chit. cliff notes is not your best friend.

look over my post again and then comment.

150mph in your car? i hope you have a very long straightaway and most of all some very good brakes. i also hope your pops doesnt knwo about that. if you were my kid id rip you a new one.

anyways back to topic

IMO...least to greatest as far as style would be mk3, sc300, mk4. Never been a fan of the boxy 80s look, and seeing as how there's no mk4 involved, I'd stick with the sc. You can always mod it. Hell, if you're really adventurous and can make it look good (fat chance), shave the top and boost it =) mk3's got nothin on you then.

Hard choice, have owned a 87 and 90 supra and now own a 97 sc300. I say you can't go wrong either way as long as you can get over the hidious dash and console in the supra. Other than that love them both. I don't think you'll be disapointed in the supra though, IMO
