alternator problems

Default alternator problems

battery light comes on at idle and low rpms
goes away at high rpms
new alternator installed.
same problem
any suggestions?

Get a volt meter and test both the current on the battery and the alternator.

yea i got a meter at work just have to get to it (its' sunday!) so i was seeing if anyone encountered this on any make/model before, so dont call in monday cause one of my cars doenst work. my legend's wheel bearing is on the way out and i dont wanna drive that unless it's on the way to the mechanic.

and moved to the performance section? hmm i guess technically performance, i mean it's more anti performance lol

Check you're grounds, check the + wires again. For the ground that goes to the chassis, unbolt it, sand around the hole where the bolt was and then bolt it back down.

ok so i took off the ground and positive connaction, roloced them till you could see the brass. and still nothing. got a another alternator, swapped on a pulley off a 97, and it works, works well. SO since it was on the rack anyway, i pressure washed the underside (my friend owns a shop and i have keys so it makes it easier), changed the oil and installed a SC lip i bought at the junk yard for 2 or 3 dollars.looks better
sunday well spent!

btw check your crank pulley as those do wear out and can lead to charging issues
