Default 92 SC400 Head Gasket Question

Apparently I need a new head gasket in my 92 SC4. My mechanic says that for my V8 the job is very involved and the labor costs will add up, so I'm just gonna tackle it myself. Anyone here every disassembled the head on one of these? If so are there any tips tricks or shortcuts I should know? I searched but it doesn't seem like anyone's posted a how-to on replacing a head gasket.

haha, I haven't done it yet, it seems like a very difficult task. Good luck, I know there is the mechanic's manual floating around on the internet, try to find it so it gives you an idea of what you are going to do

Easiest way is to take the whole engine and tranny out. This process should not take you more then 2 hours and two more putting it back. However, if you want to do a gaskets change while in the car, you will be spending 3 times the time. Trust me... been there and done that.

You could drop my supercharged motor in that I have for sale in the classifieds.

BTW, I also have a spare 97 low mile motor I would sell for a good price.

Stevechumo, JamsN and myself took 45 minnutes this morning to take out a SC400 engine. Yes, 45 minutes three of us working. One under the car, one in the car and one infront of the car.
