Default just bought my first lexus

hey all, i just wanted to say hi as i am new to club lexus. i just picked up my first lexus and it is a 92 5speed sc300. i really like the car and i had a few questions about it. first off, before i get my head chewed off, i did search but came up with no answer. what is the most power the 5 speed tranny can hold? and where can i get my cluster fixed? it is dim in sum areas of the cluster and i know this is a common problem. any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club! Looks like we have another rare 5spd. Anyway, the W58 transmission, which is the one you have, can hold upwards of about 400-500hp. But once you're up to that level you kind of want to baby it because you can still risk blowing it. Also, we have O.L.T. here on club lexus who offers a great service to those who have clusters in need of repairs or upgrades. Send him a private message and see what he can do for you.

Close but no cigar, it's actually brandon at www.lextech.org and has been for a few years.

Give the top of your dash a good whack or two to fix your cluster lights. Sometimes its not your bulb, just some loose connections. It worked for me..

This actually works. My dash was half burnt out after winter storage. I smacked the dash and the whole thing lit up perfectly fine. The issue has not repeated itself since.

Congrats on finding yourself a 5-speed. enjoy the car.

That works good for backlight (and only backlight). Be advised when the filament gets old it'll start losing connection. This is basically your warning from your lexus.

+1 on the cluster fix. My fuel gauge was dim, so I flicked it a couple of times and it came back on.

Im not sure those numbers are correc.t I think more like 350 tops and anything higher is risking it. Welcome to the club.
