Default sc300 towing question.

I have to move from NJ to FL and I was wondering if I can tow a U-Haul trailer? I have a 5 speed trans which was just serviced and new clutch done. I will be towing about 1400lbs and that includes the trailor. I have no choice but to move and I know the tow hitch will look like crap on my car. Is this possible and will I have any tranny problems or any other problems?

I suggest rent a u-haul and tow ur car unless u dont have much stuff. But if you dont have much stuff then why do you need a trailer

Have you tried to move with a sc before? I did last month and u think you don't have much stuff and then you realize how small the trunk and the inside of our cars are. I rented a truck the next day.

Yea there is not much room in the car. I am a auto tech and have a box with my tools and all my other stuff which would never fit in the car. So kinda have no choice. Do any of you know if there will be any cons to doing this since it is a 2000 mile trip?

Disconnect the rear half of the drive shaft, bolt back up the front half and the carrier bearing, it will be fine.

I took a 3hr trip when I moved. My SC was jam packed with stuff I thought was going to fit. Just pump a few pounds of air in the rear tires and keep her steady. I had a friend with a hitch on his SC and never encountered a problem when he would tow his small trailer. Also I would check the transmission fluid since it will be working on overtime.

I decided not to chance it. I am just going to pay to have all my bulk items shiped. Not worth the money to get it all together and then to have a trany repair.

Darn I was hoping to see some pics. I just ordered a hitch so I can tow the track tires to the track and not have to drive on them. I read on edmunds that we can tow 1000 lb.
