Default Paint question

I am thinking of taking my car to get painted early next week, but I will have to drive it about 300 miles that same weekend. Should I hold off on painting the car until the week after the trip? I know that the paint needs to be dried but I been told that it take a few hours to dry and also a few months. So I am debating on what I should do.

Definitely hold off. You should paint it after you get back, then let the paint cure, and then throw a clear bra on it and never worry about chips again.

Thanks guys. Yeah it was going to be all highway driving. How long should it cure for before driving it?

Depends on your paint shop. you can drive it immediately, just dont do too much highway stuff if you can avoid it. If the paint shop has an oven to bake the paint, it will be pretty much cured when you get the car back. Otherwise, I think that you have to wait 3-4 weeks before you wax it so the paint can cure, I assume the time to apply a clear bra is the same, give it a month.
