Default 200k SC 400?

Does anyone here have a 200k+ SC 400? If so, how is it holding up after all those miles? I was driving and I saw a SC in a parking lot for sale, and it turned out to have 207k miles, the guy may sell it super cheap so i am thinking about picking it up just to use as a commuter car. Also, the leather was kinda worn in the front seats, is there a kit availabe to replace the SC leather? thanks, oh and it has been lexus maintained.

buy it -- the 1UZ is just as overbuilt as the 2JZ -- If it has had all the dealer maintenance and religious oil changes, you should be good... and if not? Well then It's time for a 2JZ-GTE engine swap and the 6sp transmission (well maybe not, 'cause putting the clutch box in I've heard is a PITA), but even so, you should be alright if it was dealer serviced and had everything done 2 it on time.

how much is super cheap by the way? It's kinda relative? Trading it for a 5lb bag of uncle ben's rice?

Cherio!

PS -- Take it for a spin -- is it making an ticking noises or unusual sounds? A test drive always will help. Watch for all the typical problems too. Torque converter etc. etc.

i drove it and it felt pretty good, all the needles were bright, it drove good like my 94 and was peppy. i think that i will be able to pick it up for around 3900. guy is a loaded lawyer with a new infiniti and it has been in his storage shed for 6 mos, he was gonna keep it cause he bought it new and it never had a problem for him, but then he decided just to let it go, ill probably be buying it.!!

Buy that one, sell your 1994 SC400, and then buy a 1992/3 5sp SC300. Turn your new SC300 into a turbo beast, and keep your 200,000 mile SC400 as your daily driver.

my bro in laws dad is the top man at Cinncinatti Performance Lexus, bad thing is that i live kinda far away, he has a 92 SC 300 5 speed in amazing condition because everything, everything gets done there, im not really into tuning cars, only small things like rims/tint/all factory options im that kind of guy. the 94 is a really nice car though, i think ill just buy the 92 SW4 just to have to rack up the miles! thanks for the input, how much would you guys pay for such a car?

3.9K sounds like a real good deal 2 me. I wouldn't really push it any further if I were you -- maybe down to 3.5 or so.

Thumbs up

I have a 92 300 that people think is new. It has 163,000 miles on it. Never had a major problem. Just had to replace things here and there. (Starter...belts)

Watch out for:
*Half my dash lights are out, which you will see alot of on this forum. It's not a priority because I can still read everything. Plus very expensive.
*I just ordered some KYB struts. They are starting to go. I'll save big money by not having the dealer install them. They said it would take three hours a strut at $100/hr.
*My heated seats are also out. Its a bummer living in my climate, but something I can live without. You can't fix them, according to the dealer. they say you have to replace the seat.

I also say go for it. I'm almost finished paying it off. I hope and plan it will last forever. Good luck, M
