I've been working crazy overtime at my job and I have 5 grand saved. I don't know if I want to do suspension, tint, or exhaust first. Eventually I want to make my car a street-able drift car.
I don't know. Engine swaps are rediculously expensive if you don't have the equipment, time, or the technical savy to do it yourself. Even a straight swap like to a 1jzgte or 2jzgte can easily go over $5k at a shop. The other thing you got to consider is that a swap can take well over a month. Make sure you got a 2nd car in the meantime.

It's a 1jz swap... do the damn thing yourself. lets say $3k for a complete 1jz swap, then you've got $2k + money youve earned during that time at work when you were doing the swap; easily enough to do tint($140ish) + coilovers($900ish) + decent wheels and tires(can be had for under $1k)
Well if you want to get into investment/retirement, invest in the Euro. I wish I had done that years ago back in 2000 when it was $0.825 to the Euro. Now its $1.59 to the Euro. If you had invested $5,000 in the Euro 8 years ago, you would be up to $9,636 today! 92.7% increase in just 8 years; that beats the f*** out of any interest you get in bonds, plus its non-taxable (I think...)

Go 1J FTW! I spent $2500 including installation and 2 days With the remaining money get your A/c lines flushed, a nice staggered fitment/ coilovers and cruise with your window up AC on blast!!
save the money and invest in a 240 if you want to drift. go back to basics. if you want a good drift car then a 240 NA and decent suspension setup will out run your SC any day of the week when drifting.
a good clean s13 5sp will run you about 2,000. coilovers, sway bars, control arms, toe rods, tie rods and such will run about 2000 total. that leaves a 1000 for some wheels and tires. for cheap you can get a set of sportmax 16x8.6 wheels with great fitment and a lot of tires.
in that mix you can also throw in an exhaust and some other small things. if you do the work yourself you are all set.
i love my sc but i just came back from drift day and i had a chance to runmy car, a miata, and an S13. i loved the s13 the most. i never drove the miata and it was snappy and you have to react very quickly to it. the sc was the easiest to drive out of all though. second gear 75% throttle. kick the clutch just a bit and mingle with the steering. the wheel based is long and it doesnt swing fast like a miata. an sc is a good car to learn on if it was lighter.
5k is not enough to make an SC a good drift car. it is enough to buy a 240 and practice on that.
Please dont waste your money on a 1j. you can turbo the ge and make more power than a stock 1j .lets see here, 1j plus single turbo=5000 + .turboing the ge about 2000. Why waste your time and go 1j when you have a obd1 ge.
the only reason i did a 1jswap is because my car was a v8. If i still had my sc300 it would of been na-t. With that money you can get a turbo kit and possibly rims and a bodykit.
