sc400 overheating pls help.
Ok so today was really hot i used the air all day driving. So im on the road for about 2 hours and i turn my air off. 20 mins later my car started to overheat.
This is weird cus this is the first time i used my air con in over 6 months and all of a sudden my car starts overheating. Could using the air con be the cause of the overheating???
I was sitting at a mcdonalds drive thru and it starting climbing and when i took off luckily it went down. Also when i turned the heater on, only cold air came out, and after 2 mins finally heat came out and the needle dropped. The needle is usually halfway all the time.
Ive done every maintence i can think of to the car since i bought it in 05 and its been so reliable to me. This is the first major problem.
Anyone know whats going or have any suggestions on what i should do? This is my daily driver and i have no sick days left at work pls help asap.
thanks!
btw i have a 95sc400 170k

The fan switch, or maybe even the motor for the rad fan motor (less likely, but not sure how the fans are set up in that car.)probably isn't any good.
When you turned your A/C on it forced (bypassed the switch)the fans to come on, and that is why it kept it cool while you had the A/C on. When you had it off, and you were sitting in the drive-thru, no fan = overheat. While you were driving around with no A/C, there was enough air being forced through the rad to keep it cool.
Good luck
Dan
If you keep the A/C on until you can get it fixed, you might be ok.
