2jz questions...
enough with the bashing lol... bring er done just 1 notch plz...
mkIII supra's DO come with 1jz's get YOUR facts straight first of all...
and my Soarer does have a good base, but you can tell the 1jz is not giving its full potential.. the hole reason for me buying another motor is simple... because i need spair parts, its not for the speed or performance... just simple extra parts, and what is cheaper for me to get is a 2jzgte vs the 1jzgte.. now i talked to the guys from Japan Power, and they have 4 nice 2jz's coming in with 3 more soarer.. my Soarer that i bought from then just blew a line on the Power Steering, i half to fill it with a quart of power steering fluid daily, so its alot of money just spending on the car daily... so for me buying a spair engine, came up and i asked for a 1jz, i asked him for 2 of them and this is what he told me "the 2jz's that i am selling are cheaper then the 1jz" and since i bought a car from them they give me good deals on motors.. and since im buying 2 motors at once! im getting both 2jz's with everything i need...
ecu
harness
turbos
resistor box
EVERYTHING!!!!!!
for the low low price of??? 3000$ canadian!
so im guessing that this is a pretty sweet deal with extra trannys to bout!

I'm sure Lex is talking about the USDM MKIII which ONLY came with the 7M. Yes, MKIII came with the 1jz in Japa, but the hassles of putting it into our sc300 is sort of similar to putting an aristo motor into our chassis. (hydro water pump, harness differences, but luckily it is still a rear sump.)
On the topic, it seems that your mind has already been made up on what to do. I mean $3000 for two 2jz's, and turbo to boot? (for those who don't know the exchange rate between American and Canadian $ is, or is very close, to 1:1) I would definately jump on that IF they were from MKIV supras. If they were aristo motors, I might be hesitant on the purchase. Further more, what is the resistor box for, low imp injectors? I don't really get that part.
The only way I could see that 2jz's would be cheaper than a 1jz is:
1) Its from an aristo which I've seen go for 2 grand for motor and tranny
2) It is automatic which is much cheaper than a 2jz that came with the 6spd.
3) You are comparing it to a soarer 1jz with a soarer r154 5mt tranny which, the last time I checked, is over 2g.
Just know that you could have spent that 3g modding your 1jz with a pretty good turnout. As for potential, it exists in the 1jz, you just have to tap into it.
So you can't fix a line in your power steering for about $80 (this is considering goin AN lines and fittings and making one that will never break again, not some cheapo), however you can shell out change for 2 spare motors???? sniff... sniff.... Wait.. I think I'm smelling.....

It probably was, but it really chaps me when people on forums think they know stuff when they don't have a clue, then make insanely retarded posts on a forum that 1000s of people use for a good source of information, just like you for example. He is talking about stuff that he doesn't know about, and to top it off in a smartass way. When people, especially younger ones, read posts like that, they tend to take the attitude along with them. I hate Hondas, Tiburons, Cavaliers, etc. for the things I think they have done to the import community. But I will never tell someone that building one is stupid. If that is what they like and prefer, I have no right to tell them another motor is superior and shouldn't waste their time with it.He isn't even correct in what he is saying, the 2j is not superior in every way when you apply the context you are using it for. He threw out some random, stupid criteria and didn't put it in any context at all. There are MKIV's that have swapped 1j's into them. Yes, I just said that and if you don't believe me go to SF.com and there are quite a few.
Now what Bean is talking about is a little different story, and he is right for the average person building one motor or the other on a NA motor. But that has nothing to do with what the previous argument was about.

Besides the facts, there're many personal opinions on this forum, and even if I meant to go for the 2JZGTE, it's because I prefer it. Turbo has his own choice doesn't matter what I say. It's his car, it's his money, and his power to choose it. I'm sure he'll be happy with his choice. He's sharing his thought with us, and I'm happy just sharing my thought with him. That's what makes the forum a place for the people to enjoy sharing and get together.
And you, Jon or 2jzlex, you want to keep bashing me. That's fine. I don't give a f...k about what you wrote. In fact, I've seen you shown no sh....t about what you know and you gave no knowledge about what you've done and have established. You're just another ignorant person that I just knew now. No big deal. The reason you're pissed off because it's just your own personal opinion. You sounded like an aggressive young pup when you can't have what you want, keep barking, and thought you know everything. I wonder how many times you could have said something right besides what you've always said is wrong.
Turbo,
I'm deeply sorry it turns out ugly when Jon created this environment. I guess I better leave your thread so 2jzlex won't bark and spoil your thread.
Well said Steve, There are too many people want respect here and desperately trying to prove themselves. However, respect is earned. I think we just need to cool down and try to function together as a community. Lets get back to the original intention of this thread.
Well... all I can say to this is..
Glowing compressor housings....
1jz's in MKIII's, highly doubt it was right hand drive....
So because I call out people's bs and try to correct them I get bashed? Sorry I guess.... I have nothing to prove. All I have been trying to do is make sure people that are reading some of these bogus posts are thinking to themselves "is this really right?" before they go throw customs setups on their car with misunderstandings because some guy with 4000 posts has to know what hes talking about, right?

On KC's thread about the S/C SC400, he got something out of our argument lextreme, and he put his I/C back on. I am not trying to say that he took my sole advice and did it just cuz of me but I guarantee you it got him thinking. I was tyring to insure that he knew it was more or less a necessity, according to you it isn't even really needed on a setup like his, ask KC what he thought. He posted his results and they were much to his liking with much better intake temps while making it safer at the same time. I had nothing to prove to you or anyone. I was trying to help him.
No more for me on this thread, I will leave all of you glowing compressor housing, 1jz MKIII, two motor buying when they can't fix a power steering hose people alone.
Glowing compressor housings....
It's just not out of my ***. It's the fact. I'm not bashing anyone running the 1JZ, but given the same psi between the 1JZ and the 2JZ, the
2JZ will be more torquey at low end, even the 1JZ could be lighter in weight. This can be differentiated from light to light, and the 2JZ is more fun to drive. I've driven the 91 Supra stock turbo (I believe it's at 12 psi) and the swapped 2JZGTE into the 95 SC400, it's a big difference. If you can debate by shedding some lights out of your ***, then maybe your prime example can be welcome.

It's not that you called out people BS and you got bashed on. It's the way you do it. There is no need to type a paragraph long quoting each sentence ripping people out like that. Just simply state out your facts and it is up to the people who ask the question to take the advice or not. This is a public forums. Treat it like you talk to people as if they are in front of you. I'm sure you don't talk to people you see everyday with that kind of manner. Or else you would have your face punch out. That's all I'm going say.

Sometimes the delivery of factual truth is more crucial then the fact itself.
2jzlex, I recognize your expertise and know how. Also about the compressor housing, I read the dispute and I did notice that you agreed that turbos do produce hotter air, but having a glowing compressor housing..... That struck me as odd as I don't think that would happen under normal circumstances.
If Steve was wrong on his assumptions, why dont just simply say it nicely. Why do u have to be so rude? However, harsh words were the first thing came out of your mouth. I know you are not that type of person in real life. I think you are simply looking for respect here in a hurry.

well ok i think i am not doing the swap after words, i dont know what to do really i really want to change it to manuel. and do a single turbo conversion...
but the next step to my soarer is simple
-charge piping
-intercooler
-coplers
-c clamps
-air filter
-reducer 2.5 to 3 inch
-boost controller,
-turbo timer,
-guages.... boost, egt, oil temp... ect...
-injectors, resistor box...
-bigger down pipe (3inch)
-spring (eibach)
-AEM stand alone system
and to come...
-R154 transmission...
auto to 5speed swap...
question...
1. is the automatic 1jz bell housing good for the R154 transmission?????
2. who can chip my ecu or who makes performance chips for my computer...
for the fuel cut off.
the gavoner off

1. No, I don't believe you can interchange and must get a 1jz bellhousing. I'm not 100 % sure about that.
2.There are fuel cut defencers out there to get rid of your fuel cut....
also I believe that the GOVERNER is the same as the fuel cut, meaning that they won't let you go above a preset speed.
Now if you were actually referring to the boost cut, which keeps your boost down, there are also boost cut controllers for that.

um yes i do believe its the boost cut... but regardless i need it to stop cause its ANNOYING!!!!!!!
and for the performance chip, what company makes them so i can order it, instead of getting a mega expensive stand alone system
