Default SC300 Interior Removal/Installation Help

I am lookling for someone in the SoCal area (I'm located in San Diego, CA 92128) that has experience with removing and installing SC300/SC400 interiors. I'm hoping that someone in the faithful Club Lexus Community would be willing to help me out. I had made plans with Autocouturesc to help me, but unfortunately he bailed on me right after I bought the interior from him. Now I'm left in a situation where I have a full black 95 interior sitting here and another member who has paid and is waiting for the removal of my 97 tan interior. Please someone help me out. I think I feel comfortable with everything except for the dash. I've pulled entire interiors before, but only on my RX-7's. The SC is my baby and I want it to be perfect so I'm hoping someone with some experience would be willing to lend a hand! Thanks everybody.

Michael

Thanks SCboy. I wish you were in San Diego, but maybe there's a way that I could come up to you? You live near UCLA right? My brother lives right over there too so maybe we could get together one day and do this. What do you think?

It actually comes apart kinda easy till you get to the actual dash part. just be careful around the wood surfaces.

^Gotta agree with you there! He was all about it and as soon as he got his money I never heard from him again! The funny thing is I see him posting on threads all the time but he won't return my pms...

Anyway, I'm not really worried about any of the removal or reinstallation other then the dash. I've just read so many things where after it's all said and done your guage cluster or AC unit has bulbs out and I just don't want to deal with all that. I figured with someone experienced by my side we could handle it. If I can't find anyone then maybe I will just get the repair manual and take my time with it. Thanks to everyone especially SCboy for extending the possibility of his services. Even if we don't get together on this I really appreciate it.

I'm getting more brave about tackling this by myself. Hopefully it doesn't take a really long time because I don't want the car to be down too long. Any estimates on how long it wil take (in hours) to remove a whole tan interior and install the black (remembering that it's my first time)? Any input will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

HI Go Car Sc300, feel free to pm me if you have any questions, I have taken practically my entire interior apart to clean/replace things. Unfortunately, Im in Hawaii but I might be able to answer any questions you may come across. Good luck.

Ive been going through the process of trying to remove an interior and ive only had two problems: one, the A-pillar, i couldnt figure out how to take the handle off without breaking it, and then getting the rest of the A-pillar off, which is only held in by two screws behind the mounts for the handles. and then the BIG one, the dash, i'm still working on getting all the metal beams out, but the rest is out, only problem is that i think i broke some part of the upper dash getting it out, it was pretty hard, and i think i would probably break it again if i were to try it... i was a little pissed about that.

Thanks for the generous offer ttsukamoto. I might have to take you up on that.

CCC-TT: I'm trying to not get discouraged after your post but thanks for the warning. Good luck with the rest.

Good luck. If you do decide on taking this on yourself I guess it would be a great time to do a great write up.

It's really not that hard to take out all the interior man. Just time consuming. It's actually kind of fun when I did it, because you have to take a certain thing out first before taking off another, so it was sort of like a puzzle. Just use the DIY. The main and most important thing to remember is to not yank anything or use force. If something doesn't come out, try wiggling it or shaking it lightly. If it doesn't seem like it'll come out, then there's probably some screws still attached or another piece have to be taken off beforehand. But yeah, definitely use the dash removal DIY, that helped me out so much.
