Default Alternative front plate holders

Well a couple days ago I got pulled over for not having my front license plate on. Its actually not entirely my fault. The bumper never had screw holes or bracket holders for the plate. I don't want to take it to a dealer and have them drill holes into my beautiful bumper, so what are the alternatives out there?

I've been reading a bit on magnetic holders which dealers use when people test drive a car. Can they be used perminently, or will it fall off at highway speeds?

What about some sort of clip-on holder? Is there something like that which I can just clip into the bumper's lower grilles?

I dont think there is much out there for temp front plates. Prolly fab something yourself to attach to the lower front grill.

get a swivel mount from autozone, its $9. youll have to drill into the bumper, but you wont see the holes when you take it off

Get two small L brackets from home depot. Drill to the under side of where your bumper opening is. Wont be visible if you decide to remove your plates again

i just got some l-shape brackets from home depot and drilled them into the underside of the grill area. Then mount the plate to the bracket. Done.

yeah, what they said, or you can do it like the mazda rx-7 came. cant find a pic but look it up. from the grill there are these two spring looking things and on the end there are these tabs and they hold the plate up kinda. looks wierd once you actually notice it but so effective.

yea. the L brackets work great.. but i made my own out of flat metal rods... bent them to L shape and drilled under my bumper

What they said, just please please don't drill the front surface of the bumper. Worse yet, don't pay the dealer to do it .

Find a sturdy edge under the front ... might have to lay on your back, but there's a few places you can use.

Cool, thanks for the ideas. I'll try that zip tie idea. It looks pretty good and it wont cut into my bumper. I'm just praying that someday Massachusetts will repeal the front plate rule. Its one of those stupid vestigial ideas like daytime running lights which have shown to make difference.

i have mine ziptied too. used a license plate bracket from one of those kits at Autozone, and ziptied it to the bumper. I did not have the heart to drill into my baby. My dad on the other hand, had the drill charged and ready LOL

Looks like you actually put plate in a frame? Any vibration noise?

3M tape? What would hold metal to fiberglass best?

I had sold mine to Iron Cobra when he had his SC, then he sold his but kept the plate bracket. So I have it back...but don't use it

He did a little mod to it that keeps you from having to drill the front end. I'll take pics of it when I get home.
