to the dual guys, what kind of exhaust setups do you have, i'm wanting to keep duals for the look but my main option seems to be getting it done custom and hardly anyplace does mandrel bending, i have a 3" dp on a 1jz i was thinking doing 3" pipe from there to split 2.5" to two N1's..

i just wasn't sure about having crush bent on a turbo car.. my other idea was just going with a single side name brand exhaust for sound and function..

Go buy mandrel bent pipe from your local trucking supply store and take it to your exhaust shop for them to cut and weld.

I bought ~$250 worth of 4" pipe including the Y pipe. I cut it and tack welded it and then took it to my welder to finish tig weld it.

But I agree, dont get crush bent exhaust piping.

I got 2.5" dual pipes going all the way back from my mufflers to the first cats. It cost me only $300 to do. The shop I went to removed the center cat and the resonators. It's technically illegal to do; however, you're car will pass emissions and db unless you live in California, or if you go to a place which does a visual check. I get my inspections done at a gas station run by a couple arab guys who don't really give a f***. Most of the time they comment on how nice my car looks; most of the cars they get are beat up old Hondas and Mazdas. I doubt they would notice anyways since its got 2 cats already and thats more than most cars have.

Anyways, I'd say dual looks 1000% better than single exhaust. Dual exhaust doesn't neccessarily mean better flow and from stock, its basically for looks on our car. Going single means less weight on the car, but not much less (saving 25-30 lbs). I'd keep the dual since it just looks cooler, especially since its going to look weird having a cutout for 2 mufflers on the bumper, unless you can find an aftermarket bumper which has only one.

I have 3in from the downpipe with a hi-flow cat and resonator, then 2.5in to dual n1's. I really like the way it looks, but I'll probably do something with some magnaflows like redphoenix's car in the next year or so. Heres mine right now.

Dual is nice when done right. But I prefer single. My car had dual rain catchers when I first got the car. It was a bit much so I chopped off the left side. Since then I have put on a single Trust 4" system, it sounds GREAT.

i have a single exhaust exit. and it doesn't look too bad. i'm going to cover the other side up with a metal plate thing that will hold my safety check sticker. and shaving any weight off our heavy cars is a good thing, lol.

Peace out

I think the car just doesn't look right with 1. It's one of few cars from it's day that came with dual outs and accented them with a tip and bumper cutouts to boot. It makes it look chopped up IMO without 2. If it's all about function over form for you, I would think that 1 would be better on the 300, and dual on the 400. Here's my new to me true-dual setup.

Mine:

Magnaflow 3" Inlet with 4" Outlet (Part#14834)

4" Downpipe/Midpipe and then splits to dual 3" right below the diff; all mandrel bent.
