Hey guys,
I have a 93 Sc300 5spd. Today i was just able to find some time (thanks to the beautiful weather) to pull the water pump and timing belt. Now the strange thing is, considering that my engine is the original from 93, that now that i have a chance to count the bolt holes on the water pump, it seems to be 11? I started the thread a while back about the differences in 10 and 11 bolt water pumps. It is a stock 5sp car that started leaking from the water pump around winter time, since then i had no way to work on the car until now. I have attached an image (taken from my cell phone with bad quality) and as i sat this thing on its back, i am counting 11 fastening holes. My previous post essentially got feedback essentially stating that pre 97 cars got 10 bolt water pumps and post 97 got the 11 bolts. So if thats the case, please let me know if i need to order a 10 or an 11 bolt type. thanks gurus
I called Lexus of Rockville today and spoke with the parts counter. They said that it should be a 10 bolt, and i told the guy that i have 11 bolts and so i am unsure if i really should have the 10 or the 11. Then i called partsamerica.com and spoke with a tech, he said that it doesnt matter what year it is, instead it depends on the manufacturing plant, but there is no way to tell. I think i will order the 11 bolt. let me know your thoughts.
