Default Help

I'm 17, I live in the us and I am buying an sc300. What are my options in order to keep insurance low. I saw some say they pay like $700 a year. Is that legit? What company?

Call your insurance company and set it up for Liability only^. If you're not able to get it down lower, you may want to speak with an insurance broker who will hunt for the better deals for you.

When I was 17 driving my SC300, I was paying about the same yearly, that was with State Farm insurance.

I am 32 and am paying $76/month for liability only on a 98 SC300. It SHOULD be lower, but I had a motorcycle accident last year that continues to f me over, ANYTHING on your MVR is fair game to raise your rates (so yes, incidents and tickets with motorcycles count). If I remember right the rate w/o the accident upcharge is something like $60/month

That's correct.

To add to this, I'm 22 with two cars insured, a 2008 Toyota Tundra, and a 1947 Chevrolet Stylemaster. I'm currently paying $180 a month for two, with full coverage on my Tundra and Liability on my Chevrolet (will be switching over to classic car insurance though.).

My SC is no longer insured since it was taken down for a motor swap years ago, and never finished. Maybe I should get on that.

I'm 38 and paying $801 /year for liability (+$83 for uninsured motorist) on a '98 SC400. Compare that to our 2006 Volvo we bought at the same time that's also covered with comprehensive and collision that's $1554 /year (did a trade-in that covered the cost of the Lexus and put some on to the Volvo, but we're making payments on the Volvo.)

Once the Volvo is paid off I'll be lowering that to just liability. I'm also paying liability on our old Neon that's serving as my backup car, it's a little more than the Lexus, probably due to the TC in the Lexus.

Dudes,

$29.60 per month, $350 per year, for minimum liability(+) (with a step up in payouts compared to bare minimum liability) and uninsured motorist. 1995 SC300 5-speed. I'm forty-six years of age. No tickets or accidents. AAA Insurance of Northern California.

Default Youre all ****in up

the answer is classic car insurance if youre going to put less than 3k a year.

its cheap and you tell them how much you want to insure it for. I was quoted 350 for the year to insure my 92 5sp for 9000 dollars.

I should list all my vehicles:

98 SC400
04 Dodge Neon
04 Volvo XC90 (+collision and comprehensive)

I'm 38 and my wife is 28. I haven't had a ticket for a long time, probably 7 years, but one slight rear end that was my fault (only loosened his rear bumper, no damage to my car; wife's old insurance paid.) Wife has clear record.
The coverage is for me and my wife.
$3412/year with Liberty Mutual

I'm supposed to be getting a workplace discount with LM, I'm not so sure it's beneficial. Also, when I put the cars (Volvo and Lexus) and my wife on the policy it gave me a new yearly rate of around $1700, which sounded great... but didn't mention that was the pro-rated yearly amount for the term of the renewal period. Sneaky-sneaky. That first full payment was quite the surprise. So now I'm going to shop around.

Just so you know, you're only insured UP TO 9k of replacement cost MINUS depreciation. So, if your car NADA is $1500 you're gonna get like 1200 AND THEN pay your deductible. Not a bad rate you have but just giving you a heads up, they wont give you 9k for your car, ever... For the record, I'm a licensed insurance agent in Missouri and Oklahoma.

I pay $92 with 500 deductibles on comp/coll for my 97. I say that's average.

7 years and 8 months after my first post in this thread I pay about $39 a month for my SC with even higher liability coverage now.
